Animatic

This is a comical animatic I made about a bummed out sock wishing to be free of being worn. The sock hops down from a hamper wanting to hide under a bed, instantly regretting the decision, then turning back to see the hamper now gone and on its way to the laundry room. Panels were hand-drawn, scanned, then animated in Photoshop.

Animated Painting

A digital painting turned animated made entirely within Photoshop. There are several moving parts going on here: a panning shot, clouds rolling in, the wizard's magic, light flashing, the lightning strike itself, and the rune stones glowing blue. I have always preferred seeing lightning as a static image flashing whenever it is animated, rather than a growing entity that can be seen when traveling. That was my starting point when choosing where to take this, and the rest sort of fell into place.

Landscape

A landscape scene painted in Photoshop. With this I knew I wanted to focus on color as it has always been one of my weaker areas. In particular, I never quite nailed color blending as well as I feel I have here with the various colors across the sky and mountain ranges. The use of strong shadows to contrast the bright colors hopefully helps draw the eye in and give it a more interesting scene. I believe I was inspired by Breath of the Wild here.

Still Life

Painted in Photoshop, this is one of my first ever digital paintings I've ever made. The assignment was still life, and from there I could take it in any direction I wished. I have always had a deep appreciation toward high contrast light art and wanted to try my hand at it. And, of course, the composition is akin to your typical medieval-fantasy adventuring. I would say I probably had Diablo II in mind when making this one - it's certainly reminiscent to it.
